The Heritage Association of Antigonish, a registered Canadian Charitable Organization, was incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Nova Scotia on May 20, 1982.

The objectives of the Heritage Association of Antigonish are:

  • To promote and preserve a cultural understanding of our heritage within the Town and County of Antigonish.
  • To preserve Historical records and documents.
  • To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise, or otherwise, real and personal property and to use and apply such to the realization of the objects of the Society:
  • To buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell and convey such real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable in the carrying out of the objects of the Society.

The Heritage Association of Antigonish is managed by a Board of Directors. This Board of Directors is elected annually at the annual general meeting of the Heritage Association of Antigonish.

The current directors are as follows:

  • John Dickie
  • John Graham Pole
  • Donnie Beaton
  • Fraser Dunn
  • Bart Sears
  • Neil MacIsaac
  • Paula Paul

Each year, in accordance with the By Laws, the Board of Directors shall elect from their number the Executive of the Board.

The current Executive are as follows:

  • Chair - Angus Mac Gillivray
  • Vice Chair - Catherine Mac Gillivary
  • Secretary/Treasurer - John Dickie.
